The 12th ARTE International Mandolin Festival & Competition will be held!

There are two categories, Mandolin solo and Mandolin Ensemble.

  • Category A Semi-Final.
  • 1October 9th, 2022 (Sun):
  • Category A final,Category B Final.
Entry Fee:
  • JPY 10,000 (per a category).

Competition Guidelines
= Division A: Mandolin Solo =
  • APPLICANT ELIGIBILITY:
  • [Age] Applicants must be 29 years old or younger as of October 9, 2022.
  • PRELIMINARY ROUND (RECORDED SCREENING):
  • Jürg Kindle: “Ares” from Mandopolis
    (Submission deadline July 10, 2022)
  • SEMI-FINAL (October 8, 2022) *APPROXIMATELY 10 APPlICANTS WILL BE SELECTED:
  • Raffaele Calace Prelude No. 10
    A program of no more than 20 minutes, including one of the pieces above (with or without accompaniment, regardless of instrument)
  • FINAL (October 9, 2022) *APPROXIMATELY FIVE CONTESTANTS WILL BE SELECTED:
  • Carlo Domeniconi 12 Preludes for Mandolin Solo (choose 1 piece)
    A program of at least 20 minutes but no more than 30 minutes, including one of the pieces above (with or without accompaniment, regardless of instrument)
= B Division: Mandolin Ensemble =
  • APPLICANT ELIGIBILITY:
  • [Number of participants] 3 to 8 (No age limit)
  • ENSEMBLE COMPOSITION:
  • Any composition including at least one mandolin instrument
  • PRELIMINARY ROUND (RECORDED SCREENING):
  • Any pieces of up to 10 minutes in length
    (Submission deadline: July 10, 2022)
  • FINAL (October 8, 2022) *SOME 6 GROUPS WILL BE SELECTED:
  • Free program of at least 15 minutes and up to 20 minutes, including at least one piece by a Japanese composer
Prize money
  • A Division:
  • 1st Prize 200,000 yen 2nd Prize 150,000 yen 3rd Prize 100,000 yen
  • B Division:
  • 1st Prize 50,000 yen 2nd Prize 30,000 yen 3rd Prize 10,000 yen
Extra prize (Division A only)
    • The organizer will provide the first prize winner with a guest performance at a concert sponsored by
    ARTE MANDOLINISTICA. The program to be performed in this concert will be decided after discussion between the contestants and the Management Committee.
